In a world where tradition is increasingly giving way to modernisation, Sidi Olive Oil continues to stand proudly as a symbol of respect, for the product, for the people who nurture it, and for the nature that makes it possible. Our journey began in 2020, when two brothers, Farouk and Nasreddine Nefzi, set out to revive the soul of Tunisian extra virgin olive oil.
"Sidi" is not a casual name. In Arabic, it is an honorary title, a sign of respect, used in North Africa and India to honour wisdom and dignity. For us, it sums up everything we stand for: respect for craftsmanship, for the generations of olive farmers who tend the trees, and for the nature that nourishes us.
Although Farouk and Nasreddine grew up in the Netherlands, their hearts remained connected to Tunisia - the land of their ancestors. Their grandfather ran a traditional farm there. The memories of horses pulling ploughs, of the smell of earth and harvesting together never faded. Those childhood memories, combined with the challenges facing the modern Tunisian olive oil sector, brought forth a fervent desire: to return the sector to its original glory.
During this quest, Farouk and Nasreddine met former journalist Boubaker, a man with the same passion. His family had also been connected to olive oil for generations - as connoisseurs, as lovers, as guardians of tradition. Together, they formed an alliance: a tribute to the land and its fruits.
At Sidi, we hold our values high. We have returned to the age-old practice of hand-harvesting, where specialist pickers, irrespective of gender, ensure that every olive is carefully plucked. Our commitment extends to the protection and preservation of our olive trees—the lifeblood of our olive oil. Unlike machine farming, our methods avoid damage to the olives, preventing oxidation and preserving the oil's purity.
The result is one of the purest forms of extra virgin olive oil: 100% organic, harvested by hand, and brought directly to the Netherlands without intermediaries. Under the name Sidi, we bring more than a product - we pay homage to Tunisia's rich olive oil culture. But above all, it is the taste that tells it all. A taste that takes you to the sun-drenched hills of the south, to the essence of reverence and craft.
Sidi is not a product. It is a story, a journey, a legacy.
An ode to respect - for tradition, for the hands that care, and for the nature that carries it all. Welcome to Sidi. Where respect is not a choice, but the only way.
Taste the respect. Cherish the tradition.
